About

So what’s this all about then? Pokémon cards?

Are they worth money bruv? Yeh you bet they are bro. Mega valuable innit. All the nerds go mad for them. Gonna be an entrepreneur reselling on ebay, making millions before you know it I’ve seen people doing it on YouTube fam.

In case it wasn’t obvious that was a joke.

Me personally? I like to open packs and the plan is to share my journey here on this here website of mine, you might say we could be journeying together… I’ll get my coat.

What makes me special? Nothing, other than the ability to spend money I guess.

My story goes back to 2015 when I learned that Pokemon cards could be valuable. So I went looking for my original “collection” if you could call it that. Back in the day, in 1999 you could buy Pokemon cards in Toys R Us, so 13 year old me did just that with his pocket money. The school I went to very quickly banned Pokemon cards within a month or so, after a spate of Charizard card thefts and fisty cuffs.

Back to 2015, I failed to find my original cards. But my interest was peaked, and I discovered a little website called Chaos Cards. I promptly decided that I would only look at the latest XY era set, which at the time was Primal Clash and filtered some products by that set. When the products arrived, I realised there was more than just Primal Clash packs for me to open and a metaphorical can of worms was opened.

Over the next 3 years I would purchase more and more Pokémon TCG products, and ended up opening cards from Original Base SetPlatinumHeart Gold Soul SilverCall of LegendsBlack and WhiteXY and Sun & Moon sets. I also made up for not being able to find my handful of original Wizards of the Coast cards, by buying complete collections of Base SetJungleFossil and Team Rocket off of eBay. (Back then you could get complete WOTC sets for £100-£120!)

In 2016, it was the 20th Anniversary of Pokémon Cards, and a ton of stuff was released for the Generations and Evolutions expansions. I decided maybe it was worth buying some sealed products and keeping them as an investment. Much like my collecting, I ended up with a pretty decent collection of sealed product. This was then sold to PokiChloe off of the YouTubes, for a tidy profit in 2022.

Jumping back to 2017 I did a grown-up thing and bought a house, and suddenly buying Pokémon TCG products didn’t seem like such a wise thing to do. Also, Sun & Moon happened and I felt even more strongly that opening Sun & Moon products was not a wise thing to do. I wasn’t a fan of the Sun & Moon era.

I did sporadically open some Sword & Shield products, but leaned more into buying some Magic The Gathering bundles and dabbling briefly in MTG Arena. This was a cheaper option and more interesting to me at the time.

Then in June 2024 I got back into Pokémon cards. The lure brought me back… maybe it was those EX cards coming back, sorry those ex cards – lower case, I apologise. Maybe it was that Scarlet & Violet sounded like a couple of tarts with cockney accents.

Back in 2024 I resurrected by old Tumblr, and have been making posts there over the last 12 months, I decided in May 2025 as I write this, to commit to making a real website primarily as Tumblr has limitations in terms of making the blog look the way I want it to.

The plan is to show off cards from my collections, maybe write some stories and articles. I’m also on Pokémon TCG Pocket daily so there will likely be some content related to that on here too.

Oh yeah, my collection? Well here’s a pic of my “Pokémon display wall” if you will.

If you’ve read all of this up to this point, then thank you I do appreciate it. I hope you’ll stick around and enjoy the content.
