Taking a Poké Gamble Pt1

Three words. Amazon Pokémon Returns.

No that’s not an upcoming movie, it’s possibly the greatest gamble someone can make with Pokémon cards. The Ultimate Risk some might say.

Well yours truly has gone ahead and bought a lot of Amazon Pokémon Returns off of eBay. There’s a company you see that specifically sells Amazon returns, and they had a few listings for returned Pokémon products.

62 of the finest TCG products from the world of Pokémon, and they’ve all been opened. From the photos, the booster packs looked to be intact. Some of the collection boxes and mini tins have certainly suffered damage, and in time I will soon discover if there are any hidden gems, and perhaps find out why these products were returned to Amazon.

I know that people will return products often for the simplest of reasons so I am hopeful that there are some sealed booster packs. Other times, people will be underhanded and take the good stuff then return what they don’t want.

If all of the products were properly sealed they would be worth well over £1,000 but I paid £199 for the lot.

I counted 61 promo cards in the photos, and over 200 booster packs so my logic is that worst case scenario, the promo cards probably have about £100 of value and if somehow every single one of the 200+ booster packs have actually been opened and resealed then maybe the contents (likely just holo rares) would be worth 50p each then that’s another £100. Basically “breaking even” in a worst case scenario. So I felt that the risk was actually fairly low (even if it did take me 4 days to “pull the trigger” as it were).

Below are the photos from the eBay listing. When I have possession of the items then I will write another post.

The eBay listing said that all of the packs had been opened and potentially resealed. I think (hope) that is them covering themselves in the event that some of them have actually been opened and resealed.

There’s a few 151 mini tins which look to still have the seals on them, I would think people might try taking the good stuff from those, but Pokémon Go products? Surely not.

I plan on making a video when the stuff is delivered and going through everything.

I’ll be honest I’ve not been this excited to open (re-open?) Pokémon products for a long time.
